Four Realizations that Can Change Life

How can a normal barrister who was not even allowed to travel in a train coach with British people even when he had a valid ticket and was thrown out of the boggy go on to become father of a nation like India – Mahatma Gandhi?

How can a primary school teacher who did not even have confidence to become headmistress of the school go on to build a monumental organization which feeds to over 40 lacs people across the globe throughout the year – Mother Teresa & Missionaries of Charity?

How can a person who did not even had money to buy footwear or to feed himself or to pay for school fee go on to become finest Presidents of the most powerful economy in the world – Abraham Lincoln?

How can a person who is not even academically matriculation passed go on to build India’s largest industrial house – Dhirubhai Ambani & Reliance?

How can people who are themselves not even college graduates go on to build organizations to change the way human beings work or talk or connect – Bill Gates & Microsoft, Steve Jobs & Apple & Mark Zuckerberg & Facebook?

How can a person who started his working life by selling cycle parts in Ludhiana go on to become business tycoon and build a mammoth organization which stands of excellence in the industry and is either #1 or #2 in more than a dozen countries on globe – Sunil Bharti Mittal & Airtel?

I have always been fascinated and wondered about the possibilities of – what can be achieved in one human life? After reading autobiographies / biographies and success stories from lives of great men or women who ever blessed the planet and tons of soul searching, I have come to four major realizations that have the power to transform life. Let me share with you:

First: It does not matter where you are coming from. All that matters is where you are going to? The future is more important than the past. You can’t change the past but you can change the future by changing what you do today and it depends solely on yourself.

Second: For your life to get better, you must get better. If you want to earn more you must learn more. Knowledge is the chief source of value today. If you want to improve the quality of your life, you must improve the quality of your knowledge, skills, communication, leadership & attitude towards people and events.

Third: You can learn anything that you need to learn to become any person that you want to become and to achieve any goal that you can possibly set for yourself. There are no limits except the ones that you set in your own mind.

Fourth: All the people you read about above had a purpose, autonomy in thought & action and sense of achieving mastery in whatever they did / quest for excellence. Do you have these three?
